Straighten teeth Invisalign® Orthodontics without braces

With the help of almost invisible aligners, we can now often correct misaligned teeth without fixed braces. The aligners are very comfortable to wear and can be removed at any time.

Invisalign

When is Invisalign advisable

In aligner orthodontics, malocclusions are corrected using transparent plasticaligners (also known as aligners). In contrast to the traditional method with brackets and metal archwires, the teeth are moved by the gentle restoring force of these special, very thin aligners, which are placed over the teeth like a second skin. A large proportion of our adult patients opt for this modern form of tooth alignment correction as it is almost invisible compared to traditional orthodontics.

Advantage of Invisalign

The Invisalign aligners are, of course, customised for your teeth straightening andyour teeth so that they always fit perfectly. This gentle method allows you to have straight teeth and a perfect smile. As the aligners can be removed at any time, they are absolutely safe to eat with. This also makes cleaning the Invisaligns very easy. This method of correcting teeth is particularly popular with adults, as the transparent aligners are hardly noticeable in everyday life.

The course of treatment with Invisalign

1. before the start of treatment

Before we carry out a digital 3D scan of your teeth to plan your tooth correction with Invisalign ©, your dentist in Zurich should have examined your teeth for caries and cleaned them within the last 3 months. Otherwise, there is a risk that the scan cannot be used for planning the correction.

2nd planning phase

In the first session, we will take a 3D scan of your teeth and some important photos for planning your tooth alignment correction. The cost of the scan and the photos is around CHF 200. You have the option of viewing a simulation of your finished tooth correction during this session.

All teeth are then measured and your removable and invisible aligners are planned in detail. There is an additional charge of around CHF 200 for the final planning. If you decide not to go ahead with the treatment after the final planning, Invisalign© will charge a planning fee of CHF 350. However, this fee will be waived if the treatment is actually carried out.

3. discussion of the treatment - The ClinCheck

The finalised planning proposal, also known as ClinCheck, will be discussed with your practitioner approximately one week after the scan to discuss any desired changes. The Invisalign© splints will only be made when you are satisfied with the result. During this session, the expected duration of treatment is also discussed based on the exact number of aligners.

Please note that in around 30% of all cases a further scan and a second, usually shorter splint phase may be necessary. This so-called mid-course correction or refinement at the end of the treatment serves to refine and fine-tune the final result.

4 The first session

The initial session of Invisalign© therapy lasts around 2 hours. Firstly, fine enamel reductions are made at relevant narrow areas and then polished. Then the attachments are fitted and bonded, which remain on the tooth surface temporarily until the end of the tooth position correction in order to accelerate and enable tooth movement.

Finally, the dentist inserts the first pair of aligners and explains how to handle, clean and wear them. If necessary, you will receive further splints, which you will change yourself after the discussed interval.

5. controls

You should always bring your current splint as well as the previous and next clear splint with you toyour check-ups, which usually take place monthly. If you forget these, the check-up may not be carried out as planned. The check-ups normally only take 15 to 30 minutes. These regular check-ups ensure that the teeth move into the desired position.

Warranty

Broken or faulty aligners will be replaced by Aligntech at any time at no extra cost. If you lose a splint, it can be reordered at short notice. The cost of reordering is CHF 140. Please note that it may take 1 to 2 weeks for the reordered splints to arrive at the practice. In the meantime, we recommend that you continue to wear your previous splint.

Risks

Please note that smoking, eating and drinking with the splints will cause the splints to discolour more quickly.

Costs

Only the cost of making the splints must be paid before treatment begins. The remaining costs of the teeth alignment correction can also be paid in instalments. Tooth alignment correction with Invisalign is generally possible from CHF 200/month.

We will be happy to discuss your personal situation during a short, free consultation and send you a cost estimate by e-mail or post.

FAQ: The most frequently asked questions about Invisalign and aligner therapy

Invisalign is a modern tooth correction system consisting of transparent, removable plastic aligners. Each aligner is customised to your teeth and gradually moves them into the desired position. At regular intervals - usually every 1 to 2 weeks - you switch to the next aligner until the treatment goal is achieved.

Aligners are suitable for adolescents who have finished changing teeth and for adults of all ages. They can correct mild to moderate misalignments - such as gaps, crowding or bite anomalies. Your dentist will clarify whether treatment is suitable in a personal consultation with a 3D analysis.

Invisalign is well suited for gaps between teeth, crowding, overbite, underbite and slight crossbite. Very pronounced skeletal misalignments or severe bite anomalies often require additional orthodontic measures or fixed braces. Your dentist will assess this on an individual basis using X-rays and 3D scans.

Invisalign is the market leader with over 25 years of experience and the proprietary SmartTrack material that exerts a precise and even force on the teeth. There are also other aligner systems (e.g. the slightly cheaper Angelaligner system). All systems work on a similar principle; the differences lie in the material, technology, manufacturing precision and the provider's wealth of experience.
